This is so embarrassing for us. NM is far from being an economically literate state; but let's at least TRY. Immigration 1.) lowers the wage by increasing competition in the labor market and 2.) exacerbates inflation, raising the cost of living as completion for goods & resources intensifies. Immigration is CANCER for a high-income country. Immigrants easily outbid local labor (they are used to living on $4/hr and will happily take $6.) This forces down wages as others try to compete or just give up and live unemployed. Unchecked, our wage would naturally equalize to the world wage, which is about $2.90 per hour. We can't allow wages to go down, AT ALL. The economy would buckle and collapse, your kids would never be able to own their own home, much less eat. Even now, my generation can't own a home, thanks to older folks who voted with their feelings not their head. Even small amounts of legal immigration is poisonous for a country with such a high wage and cost of living. The decrease in real wage and the increase in real cost would be devastating at nearly any amount. Its stupid to allow that to happen to OUR people for a bunch of criminals. The policy is to remain in Mexico. Those lawbreakers in violation must be swiftly dealt with. That legally entails removal, as well as revocation of all eligibility for citizenship or even residency. We owe lawbreakers and the innocent justice. We have to put Americans first, as any decent leader would.
